Your Physical Body

When we change a part of any aspect of our experience, we simultaneously change the condition of the whole

Based on this understanding, I believe in an integrative approach to restoring balance in our lives.
Healing unfolds as we activate changes on the journey towards more and more awareness of our whole self.
We can access this wholeness through many different pathways.

For example, working with the body can access thoughts and feelings.
Whereas, changing the mind can lead to adjustment in the quality of the experience we are having.
All the different aspects of ourselves are in constant communication with each other.

An important requirement for healing on all levels is relaxation. There are so many ways to experience deep relaxation, to obtain relief from emotional and energetic blocks as well as gain greater connection to our inner being. To fully integrate our experiences in life, we must be able to embrace them emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually.

I've combined my trainings in numerous healing modalities to offer a variety of nourishing and effective therapies which can address all aspects of ourselves simultaneously. We will consult briefly before each session to create a treatment plan in which your specific needs are addressed and your natural healing ability is fully supported.
Bodywork Research continues to uncover the tremendous benefits of touch which include:

  • Balancing emotions
  • Managing stress/promoting relaxation
  • Lessening anxiety and depression
  • Bringing oxygen into tissues/improving circulation
  • Increasing energy, vitality, flexibility
  • Releasing endorphins (amino acids) which work as the body’s natural painkillers
  • Strengthening immune system
  • Improving concentration
  • Enhancing sleep quality
  • Easing acute and chronic conditions
  • Deepening spiritual connection

Different Pathways of Working with the Body

My paradigm of self-care includes learning about ourselves through the wisdom of the body. Below are a number of ways to pay attention to, rebalance and release deep chronic muscular tensions of the body.

What is going on in the mind reflects what is happening in the body and vice versa. Addressing the physical body can help release stuck breathing patterns, unblock emotions and bring relief on many levels.

Swedish Massage - Excessive stress inhibits the flow of nutrients to cells and inhibits the cleansing and nourishing process, primarily through muscle tension. The main purpose of this massage is to increase oxygen flow in the blood, stimulate the nervous system, relax muscles and release stress, both physical and emotional. It shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid and other wastes.

Acupressure
- Includes massage techniques like tapping, squeezing, rubbing, and applied pressure on specific points to release energy blockages and reintroduce the optimal flow of life force energy through the body.

Deep Tissue Release
- Most of us react to unpleasant experiences by blocking our feeling and stopping a great deal of our natural energy flow. Protective armor freezes tissue in and around muscle. Opening layers of connective tissue, or myofascial, which envelops our musculature, allows the muscle (and accompanying emotions) to be freed and reorganized. Deep tissue work can be incorporated into any massage session or a 10 session process focused completely on releasing chronic and accumulated tensions is available.

Breathwork -
To tighten the body and constrict the breath is a very primal and automatic human reaction to intense feeling. This is seemingly an effective short term strategy to deal with uncomfortable feelings but it does nothing to address the cause. Breathing allows us to gently notice any conflict, pain or difficulty that we have stored in our bodies and gradually open to it and release it. Simple breathing exercises can powerfully energize us on a very deep level.
